Thoughts

Sending all of the family my condolences. Mike was a wonderfully kind and gentle spirit, and I clearly remember Mike and Jill's hospitality when Michael Kerr came to the school on a student placement from Sydney, Australia. Michael and I are still in contact and he sends you this message below. With fondest memories, Fran Hammond From Michael: Hello to Jill and all the family I was not sure of any contact details and so am sorry I have been unable to contact till now. I am surprised in this day and age that news of Mike's passing took so long to get to me but I have only just heard now. It goes without saying but Melissa and my greatest sympathies go to you, Jill and the rest of the family. He was a giant character. Only now as I am closer to 50 than 40 on reflection do I realise just how amazing a character he was. I was a 19 year old Aussie in Talents House in 1995 and can honestly say Mike and Jill had a profound effect on me and the course of my life. I became a better employee for Woodbridge, better Rugby player (Australian Rugby unions ongoing self harm attempts aside) and perhaps most importantly a better husband, father and doctor because of the time I spent with your parents. I am doing my best to pay their generosity and wisdom forward in my life. I know that death is a part of life and am grateful for his long and relatively healthy life, but as a wise man said "When we lose someone, Those that loved them miss them." I will miss the thought that I can not see your Dad again. He was one of my greats! Please send our love to Jill. Warm regards Mike and Melissa Kerr

Very fond memories of Mike from diving after his casually lobbed bricks into the old school pool, to his passionate coaching and pride in his sports teams, especially the first XV. He was a true Woodbridge School giant. Love and best wishes to all the family.
